What have I been doing? Scrapping!

Making scrap quilts, this one is Scrappy Bargello .

The scraps just keep growing, and growing. Thanks goodness for Bonnie at www.quiltville.com and all her great ideas for scrap quilts. The grand kids love them and are not afraid to use them.

No fancy quilting, just straight lines using the walking foot. I recently attended a local quilt show, the quilts are beautiful as usual, but it seems to me that quilting has evolved so it is all about the fancy quilting now instead of the craft. If you can't afford a quilting machine, or send them out to be quilter by a professional you can no longer compete. I'm just saying.

The binding will be on this one tonight ready to stitch while TV viewing.

Happy Quilting!

  2. Hi Janet,
I've never tried using light and dark strip sets, but I'll have to I really like yours. You are a brave women to quilt on your sewing machine. I have a quilting machine and don't know what I would do without it.

  3. I totally agree with you on quilting.I use my home sewing machine and do my best with its limitations. It's still beautiful, just not as intricate. I love Bonnie Hunter's ideas, too.

  4. Very good job! I really like scrap quilts and am working on a scrappy Star of Bethlehem baby quilt (small - about 42 inches square). And isn't it wonderful that the grandkids aren't afraid to use them! That is what quilts are all about! I'm glad you are back. I enjoy your blog very much.

  5. Quilt is beautiful. Pls give directions for the border. Loved your choc cake in a mug (a couple of times) Found you by searching for string quilts and am a avid fan.

  7. Thanks for your nice comment on my blog.
Your cat doing the "cat scan" on your title picture could be my Baby. She is a tortie...but overweight and that look on your cat's face is so totally baby's look. She is the most sweet and easy going cat...but is sooo timid!

My name is Olga and I live in Tatarstan (Russia). I love the American quilt. I made a few blankets. I really like the Ribbon in Motiom, but I can not order a pattern, because the sites are only for Canada and America. If you want, we can make the electronic exchange pattern. I can send you some samples that might interest you .. Help me please! Yours. Olga

  12. Love the "cat scan"! Too cute! Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment on my blog! I answered your questions there since you have no email for your blog. I agree with your comment about the quilting in quilt shows. And now with all the computerized quilting, it is really about your computer skills instead of your quilting skills. It will be interesting to see how they handle all this in the quilt shows.
