Sewing room disorder and quilting block question

I have never been happy with my sewing room set up since I moved in. I liked it in front of the window so I could see out, but it all felt cramped.
I have shoved, tugged, and pulled the sewing table and desk all over the room.

My goal was to be able to see out the windows, have the desk up against the sewing table to make more quilting space, while working on larger quilts. I hate it when they slide off the table.

My solution was pull it all out in the center of the room, back to back, and now I can see out both windows and have a large work space.

I now have enough quilt blocks to finish the "mile a minute" quilt top. (I don't have them all on the wall) I had originally thought I would be using sashing.

But after trying it on I'm not sure I like it.
I like it better without, what do think.

I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th.

Happy Quilting!

I love these kinds of easy patchy strip quilts. I like it with out the sashing. Sashing would take too much of the spontaneity out of it. I even like it the way it hangs with no boarder. Trish

  2. Hi Janet....I agree with Trish....no sashing is needed. I'd simply bind it with a narrow binding. Actually, you could do a pieced binding, using some of your favorite colors used in the quilt.

    I love your beautiful kitty!

Hope your sewing room arrangements work better for you now. I did the same thing a couple of months ago...I now face the window from the "back half" of the room using a sewing table placed near the sewing cabinet where my 2nd machine is. It is great!

    Take care!

  3. I love your scrap quilt and I don't think it needs anything but a narrow binding.
You might try setting your ironing board up on the left side of your sewing table, then lowering it down to the same level. That gives extra room to lay out your quilt. I have also used a card table, which is currently the same height as my sewing table. I think it was a great idea to move everything into the center of the room.
